เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 25 พฤศจิกายน 2535 และโตขึ้นในเกาะ Oahu หนึ่งในบริวาร เกาะในฮาวาย เขาโตในสภาพแวดล้อม ของชายหาด สายลม ทะเล โดยเขาเริ่มโต้คลื่นร่วมกับพี่ชายทั้ง 2 ขณะเขา อายุ 12 ปี เขาประสบอุบัติเหตุ รักษาตัวอยู่ที่บ้าน หลายเดือน ระหว่างที่เขารักษาตัวอยู่ เขาฝึกเล่นกีตาร์ นอกจากนั้น ยังสนใจการเล่นสเก็ตบอร์ด โดยมี Alex Conwell เพื่อนของพ่อเขาช่วยฝึกสอน นอกจากนั้น Alex ยังได้สอนการเล่นกีตาร์ และ ฟลุตให้ไบรท์ เขาเริ่มเล่นกีตาร์ตอนอายุ 14 ปี แต่ยังไม่ได้สนใจถึง ระดับอาชีพ จนกระทั่งเขาได้ศึกษาต่อที่ University of California ใน Santa Barbara เขาจบการศึกษา ในสาขาภาพยนตร์ และ ได้เล่นริทึ่มกีตาร์กับวงฮิปปี้ ชื่อ "Soil-me."
ในระหว่างปี ค.ศ.1997-98 เขาได้กำกับหนังเกี่ยวกับ การโต้คลื่นเรื่อง Thicker Than Water ต่อมาเข้าได้พบ Garrett Dutton แห่งวง G. Love & Special Sauce ไบรท์ได้บันทึกเสียงเพลง "Rodeo Clowns" ซึ่งอยู่ใน อัลบั้ม Philadelphonic Ben Harper ได้ชักชวนไบรท์ หลังจากได้ยินงานของเขา ซึ่งเป็นผลทำให้เขาได้ ออกอัลบั้มแรกในปี 2001 อัลบั้ม "Brushfire Fairytales" หลังจากตระเวนทัวร์อยู่เกือบ 2 ปี ไบรท์ได้ออก อัลบั้มที่ 2 "On and On"
อัลบั้มที่ 3 "In Between Dreams" ออกจำหน่าย วันที่ 1 มีนาคม 2005 หลังจากนั้น 1 ปี อัลบั้มนี้ก็ขึ้นชาร์ท ที่อันดับ 2 ในอเมริกา และขึ้นสูงสุดอันดับ 1 ในอังกฤษ
ในปี 2006 ก็ออกอัลบั้มที่ 4 "Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George" อัลบั้มนี้ ก็ประสบความสำเร็จขึ้นอันดับ 1 ในอเมริกา เดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2006 ได้รางวัลจาก Brit Award สาขา Best International Newcomer ทำให้อัลบั้ม "In Between Dreams" ขายดีขึ้นหลักล้าน ในอังกฤษ

i called to today, but u wasn't home yet. just wanted i asked sth abt ipod. i didn't know who was picking up the phone. he was a guy. เสียงเมาๆหน่อย ฮ่าๆ he asked my if i was ur friend or ur mom. haha. he also asked my name though.
i had a lot of fun talking to u on skype last time lol. we talked abt a dream, the dream that we already were in thailand. that night, i dreamt that i was in thailand!!it's weird. lol.
btw, i already bought the nano thingy la.. dont know how to use. im waiting for my mom to help. haha. im stupid. =P
